The decision to create the AUGGN was announced in Rabat (Morocco) in November 2019. Today AUGGN is constituted by 2 UNESCO Geoparks in 2 Nations. It will be officially launched in May 2020 during the 1st African International UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference which will be held in Tanzania with UNESCO support.
